At Palisades Dental Clinic, our goal is to protect you and your teeth from any periodontal (gum) diseases. Periodontal disease is a degenerative disease which if not treated properly can result in bone loss, gum loss and even tooth loss. It is caused by bacteria from plaque and calculus that has accrued in the mouth.
At Palisades Dental Clinic, we work with you to treat and prevent periodontal disease. Our treatments range from scaling and root cleanings to periodontal surgery and are customized based on your individual situation. Periodontal diseases can be avoided by maintaining a good oral hygiene routine at home. This means you should be brushing at least twice a day, flossing every day, eating healthy and balanced meals, and visiting the dentist at least twice each year for check-ups.
You require periodontal treatment if you have red, swollen or tender gums. If you have a bad breath and bleeding due to brushing and flossing you should go to the dentist to get checked. If there is an alteration in the way your teeth fit or you experience teeth separating, this may mean you require periodontal treatment.
